Ursuline Links

What is Ursuline Links?

Ursuline Links is an organisation set up to provide opportunities for young adults to volunteer in a variety of settings

  • The programme gives young people the chance to work together for the benefit of others. It allows them to work, pray, relax and have a good time together. It helps them to develop their understanding of how we embody Gospel values in our lives today

  • Service projects have taken place in the UK and abroad and post COVID now principally focus on London and the South East

  • Students attend a monthly meeting in the period leading up to each project.  During this time we grow as a team, pray, reflect and talk about what is important to us

  • Before the summer service projects begin, we come together for a day of reflection, a retreat day and a training day. Retreat During the day each one is missioned to go forth to serve and each person receives a pilgrim cross

  • Prayer and reflection play a central part in all projects. We ensure that all spiritual activities are inclusive and relevant to all members of our diverse student communities

Our Base

Until July 2023, Desenzano House had been a hub for Ursuline Links activity and energy. The house welcomed groups of students from Ursuline schools for spiritual retreats and conferences and Ursuline Links training and development days. It also hosted ‘Feel Good Fridays’, weekly meetings for students at Ursuline Academy, Ilford, during which students explored personal feelings, reflected upon life experiences and discussed future plans. The house had provided a warm and familiar environment for young people to feel the benefits of being part of the Ursuline Family, in a safe and welcoming space.

Ursuline Links is now be based at Forest Gate.

Impact

Students gain a great deal from these service projects

  • They invite God into their lives in a new way

  • They learn about themselves, gain new skills and make new friends

  • They begin to appreciate how fortunate they are in comparison to so many other people

  • They feel glad they have given up part of their  holidays to serve others

  • They say their lives are changed for ever!
